Comedy and Tragety in Weight Lifting

Here’s a collection of lifting mishaps

A more tragic case involved a former sheriff and champion weightlifter, Willie Morris who set world records in power lifting and won more than two dozen national championships. 65 year old Morris left a suicide note and shot himself 3 months after developing a severe case of Tinnitus (ringing in the ears), he indicated that the buzz saw noise began after a weightlifting mishap, his daughter reported he was squatting when things went wrong, it’s unclear whether he banged his noggin or perhaps popped a blood vessel. While more typically a moderate annoyance, severe cases of Tinnitus and the accompanying chronic loss of sleep can have a serious psychological impact.

The complete Obituary, details his record 601 lb squat lift at age 60.
